Five years ago Molly Shlofeld’s life changed dramatically when she watched her father commit murder. Her testimony
was enough evidence to send him away to a life sentence in prison. Her father had connections with the mob. She
feared for her life and made the decision to join the Witness Protection Program. Overnight, her name and everything
she knew in the world had changed.
In Molly’s new life, she works in a floral shop in Seattle. There she and her employer, Pattie, and Pattie’s
daughter, Tara, grow to be best friends. The love Molly feels for them helps to replace the family she lost when
she assumed a new identity.
Dr. Dave Westfield also has experienced his own share of tragedy; eight years ago he lost everything he had ever
loved. He spends his time being consumed in his work and volunteering at a teen crisis center. One day while
getting his morning coffee, he cannot take his eyes off the runner he had noticed the other day at the local A&P.
Her beauty takes his breath away. He is puzzled at the frightened look she gives him when she catches him glancing
her way. Secretly, he knows that it is foolish to have such fantasies, for no woman could ever love and accept him
for the man he has become.
Molly is shocked when she learns the stranger at the coffee shop is Tara’s doctor. She discovers this when
Pattie asks a favor - to take Tara to see her to her doctor. Molly is relieved when the identity of guy at the
coffee shop is revealed. She is pleased to learn that his feelings of affection toward her seem to be genuine. Her
heart wants to learn more of this man of mystery, but her better judgment tells her that her life could not withstand
a love interest.
Hearts in Hiding is an award-worthy novel. In all my years reading romance, I have never found a book that
literally stayed with me weeks after I finished the last page. This is the type of book that I have been begging
authors to write. It has all the elements that I have always wanted to see combined in one book (disabled character,
tragedy, mystery, suspense, and intrigue). Leanne Karella, you truly have made this reader / reviewer one very
happy person. Your story has captured my heart, and I wish to shout to the world how wonderful an experience I had
reading it. Very highly recommended.
