San Francisco Vice Detective Andrea Darling has a goal — to transfer to Homicide and follow in her
grandfather’s and father’s footsteps. Then she receives an assignment that is the means to achieving her goal: she
is to lure Scottish con-man and psychic Logan Sinclair into a trap, posing as Andie Devon, to learn how he convinces
women he’s on the level.
Logan Blakewell Sinclair sets out to gain the confidence of a widow, Drew Mochrie. At first, his aim is to
discover the whereabouts of the Star of Avril, a priceless necklace, but his goal hides a darker purpose.
After Logan leaves the Mochrie home, he spies a broken down car and meets Andie Devon, to whom he is immediately
drawn. Andie is likewise attracted to the charming Scotsman, but has her suspicions, and her assignment is top
priority. To follow through with that assignment, she plans to meet Logan at a vacant home where she wants to hold
a séance.
Logan hides the fact that his clairvoyance is real, until he realizes that the home is truly haunted by the ghost
of Emma Harte, a fact Andie has to face as she begins to suffer nightmares about the young woman. Logan, through
sources, discovers that Andie is a cop and decides to play along with her game.
To complicate matters, Andie begins to realize that Logan just might be a true clairvoyant. If that isn’t
enough, she’s confronted by a blackmailer whose threats can mean the end of her career — and possibly her
life.
Killer Charms is a marvelous book — a suspenseful mystery, with a fast-paced plot and just the right
touch of the paranormal element to make readers keep turning pages. Marianne Stillings is a talented author who
easily made me love the main characters, Logan and Andie, but the inclusion of Andie’s brothers, Nate and Ethan,
made me yearn to read their stories as well.
While Killer Charms may be my first exposure to author Marianne Stillings, it certainly will not be my
last.
