A Match Made in Hell
Book Two in the Nicki Styx series
by Terri Garey
It's no wonder that the first book in the Nicki Styx series, Dead Girls Are Easy (also
reviewed on Myshelf.com), was just named the
Best First Book by Romance Writers of America. Terri Garey's sequel, A Match Made in Hell, which came out
this summer, is an absolute stitch! It's funny. It's got a great convoluted mystery. It's got romance!
Like Amanda Gordon in the television hit, Ghost Whisperer, Nicki Styx can talk to dead people. She never
realized she could do that until she had a near-death experience and came back seeing spirits. The first book
explains all this and how she meets her hunky doctor / boyfriend, Joe Bascombe. In this second book, Nicki discovers
she also has a twin sister, who also can see spirits after surviving a car accident, but who just happens to be
Dr. B's soon-to-be ex-wife. If that doesn't complicate Nicki's life big time, add in long-lost dead relatives and
several appearances by the sexiest version of the Devil anyone could ever envision.
I absolutely loved this book! I loved all of the characters even when they were behaving badly. I found Nicki's
business partner, the co-owner of her vintage clothing store, Evan to be thoroughly charming and wished he were my
best gal pal. Garey's writing is witty and her descriptions of Savannah, GA are spot on. (It's one of my favorite
cities!) Her story is so well-plotted she kept me guessing right to the end. And what an ending it was! Of course,
Nicki and her sister will hopefully have more encounters with spirits. I eagerly look forward to visiting with
these young Georgia women and their friends again. |
