When Marcee Robbens attends her best friend’s wedding, she meets handsome widower and police detective, Sam McKelvey.
Marcee discovers a solid strength in Sam that appeals to her and, for the first time, makes her long for a
relationship. Unfortunately, like everyone else who ever deserted her, Sam plans to move to a small town - the very
thing Marcee hates the most. Though Marcee wants to remain unencumbered by love, Sam’s announcement strangely
disappoints her.
For the first time since his wife’s death, after meeting Marcee, Sam feels alive again. But he knows nothing can
come of this meeting. He can’t change his plans to move to Ellswood with his teenage daughter, Fern, so they can
spend more time together.
When Marcee is suddenly let go from her job, she moves back to her hometown to take care of her younger
half-brother, Camden Smith, until he graduates high school. It’s a chance to start life anew and prove she can care
for someone other than herself. She left home as a teenager when he was only a child, and now their mother deserted
Cam. Understandably, their first meeting is awkward, but slowly Marcee breaks through Cam’s quiet reserve. She
discovers a determined, musically talented young man who feels rejected and unloved, emotions she understands all
too well.
Marcee discovers that Sam McKelvey is the new sheriff of Ellswood and her next door neighbor. She knows that
small town gossip can be devastating and they agree to keep their previous relationship a secret. The red hot
attraction Marcee and Sam share, however, is hard to resist - until a beautiful widow enters the picture.
One Night Stand is a sensitive story, filled with passion, fully-developed characters and a solid,
satisfying plot. Ms. Kirk portrays a realistic vision of small town life and the difficulties Fern and Cam face
in being friends. Best of all, Ms. Kirk delves deep into family relationships, feelings of hurt and rejection and,
most of all, the healing power of love. One Night Stand is an outstanding novel with an engrossing story,
and is certainly a not-to-be-missed read!
