Soon after moving to Buckeye, Madison meets the local Sheriff, Gabe Wyatt.  She feels an immediate attraction to Gabe.  As the days go by, Madison is pleased that Gabe returns her feelings.  He is the kind of family man that Madison needs to make her life complete.

Madison’s perfect world shatters when Ethan goes away with a group of his friends one weekend on a camping trip.  She is stunned to learn that the stepfather of one of Ethan's friends was found murdered and Ethan is the prime suspect.  Madison’s love for Gabe is quickly put on hold while she tries to prove her son’s innocence.

Madison is desperate to save her son’s life and hires a private investigator to help prove that Ethan is innocent.  The attention that Madison is stirring up makes the real killer feel as though his time is running out.  The killer knows that Madison must be eliminated so that the secret behind the murder can be kept safe.

Being from East Tennessee, I can truly appreciate the setting of Pitch Black.  It was like picking up my local paper and reading of an event that actually happened in my home town.  Susan Crandall is the type of author you can never get enough of; each book she writes is like treating yourself to the best the world has to offer.  Pitch Black is another superb offering that provides elements of suspense, intrigue, and romance.  These three items make for the perfect escape from the world.  Very highly recommended.
