The Tuckerman Elementary School band from Travilah, Maryland, was competing in a National Battle of the School Bands
in Las Vegas. With the band members safely tucked into their bed, their chaperons were free to enjoy themselves. The
evening would prove to have dire consequences for three women.
Loreen Murphy (PTA treasurer) spends three ecstatic hours with Ron, who proves to be a male prostitute. She pays
his $1000 fee with her ATM card, but discovers to her dismay that she had used her PTA card instead of her personal
one.
Tiffany Dreyer (President of the PTA) strolls into a stylish boutique and manages to buy $1000 worth of clothes...
only to find the next morning when she tried to return them that the store had a "no refund" policy.
Abbey Walsh (vice president of the PTA and wife of a local Methodist minister) is confronted by a man from her
wild youth. He demands $10,000 to stop him from informing her husband about her misspent past.
Back home in Maryland, the women desperately try to find a way to earn the money needed. Tiffany appeals to her
sister, Sandra, for a job in her newly-formed shoe business. Unfortunately, the business is too new to support any
more employees. Sandra suggests to the three that they try what she had done when she was suffering from agrophobia
and had to support her shoe addiction (see Shoe Addicts Anonymous, also
reviewed on Myshelf.com)... and become phone
sex operators; she instructs them in the techniques.
The undertaking proves successful both financially and personally. The women find a solution to their personal
problems, along with the strength and intelligence to find a fresh start in life.
Secrets of a Shoe Addict doesn't concentrate on shoe addiction as in Shoe Addicts Anonymous, but
rather on the personal relationships of and bonding between the four women. Sandra's adventures in dating through
"MatchDotCom" are hilarious, and her relationship with her sister heals and deepens. This is a story full of comedy,
love and friendship with a little bit of revenge.
A quick read to add enjoyment to a quiet afternoon.
