Solar Wind
by Carole Ann Lee
Solar Wind is Carole Ann Lee's second futuristic romance through Awe-Struck Books. This book's hero is
Zeke Slater, a secondary character in the first book, Banner's Bonus (also
reviewed on Myshelf). Here, hunky space
privateer Zeke tangles with petite Kira Delaney, a feisty stowaway who is determined to find out what is happening
at her father's company. Hearing that her father died off-world at the company mines on Echo and almost getting
killed herself on her homeworld, Kira heads out to find her father's business partner on Echo. But going toe-to-toe
with Zeke Slater turns out to be more than she bargained for, especially when she confronts piracy and
slavery—and she can't tell the good guys from the bad. There is more here than Kira's eyes can fathom and
the sparks that fly between Zeke and Kira are undeniable, though each finds themselves in their own private
denials.
Lee's space adventure is solid with all of the shoot-em-ups and intrigue any good space opera buff would want.
The romance fairly sizzles. But Zeke and Kira's self doubts about their feelings and those of the other were
absolutely maddening. I kept wanting to shout at the pages, "Just talk to each other!" But that is the stuff of
authors building tension, and Carole Ann Lee certainly did that.
Solar Wind is a great adventure tale. |
