Some Like it Wicked
First in two-book series or "duet"
by Teresa Medeiros
After her parents’ brutal death at the hands of the English, 15 year-old Catriona Kincaid is sent by her older
brother, Connor, to live with her uncle’s family in England. Unfortunately, her uncle and aunt tolerate her and her
younger cousin, Alice, constantly picks on her. One day, when Alice is determined to be seduced by a well-known
rake, Simon Wescott, Catriona foils her cousin’s plans. Simon, who thinks of Catriona as a tomboy, quickly departs,
yet not without leaving a lasting impression in Catriona’s mind.
Five years later, when the Marquess of Eddingham breaks his engagement to her cousin Alice and turns his
attentions on Catriona for her dowry, the headstrong Catriona takes fate into her hands. She has followed Simon’s
exploits under Admiral Nelson’s command, and his receiving a knighthood for saving his captain’s wife. Unfortunately,
since his return to England, Simon has fallen back on his rakish ways.
Catriona meets Simon, who is in Newgate Prison, incarcerated for seducing a Magistrate’s daughter, and offers a
proposal: she will give him half of her dowry if Simon will marry her and take her to Scotland so she can find her
missing brother, Connor.
Simon, seeking freedom and wealth, has one stipulation: he demands the rights of a true husband. Catriona,
surprised by Simon’s request but holding tender feelings towards him, agrees. They head for Gretna Green, determined
not to lose their hearts. Yet neither anticipates the sensual pleasures which await them... or the discoveries they
make along the way.
Some Like It Wicked is a sensual read, fast paced, filled with passion and humor. Simon is delightfully
wicked as he hides his pain behind a devil-may-care attitude. Catrionia, while sensually naïve, is a headstrong
heroine who encourages us to cheer her on as she slowly wins Simon’s heart, despite his desire to keep it safe.
Teresa Medeiros is a first-class author who uses the written word to exhilarate our senses and feelings. Some
Like It Wicked is an unforgettable story of love that is to be treasured and read over and over again —
truly a first-class keeper. |
