Too Dangerous to Desire
Part 3 of a Series

by Alexandra Benedict

Beautiful Evelyn (Evie) Waye watches her family, fortune, and future disintegrate with the death of her beloved mother. Soon afterward, her crazed and drunken father sells Evie’s older sister to a sadistic foreign prince. When her sister mysteriously dies shortly thereafter, the prince makes another deal with her father - this time for Evie. Unwilling to endure a moment in the prince’s company, much less a lifetime, Evie climbs to the top of a cliff, tears off her clothes, and flings herself into the ocean in the hopes of ending her tortured life.

Fortunately for her (and the reader) someone is watching. Living in a humble cottage near the ocean to avoid contact with others, Adam Westmore doesn’t hesitate to rescue the lovely woman from her suicidal plunge. Having been helpless to save his own wife from drowning several years earlier, Adam feels an overwhelming need to keep history from repeating itself. Although they both hide dangerous secrets from each other, Evie and Adam grow to trust a little more after spending time alone together in the cottage. Just when it seems that Adam may again find true love in his life, the secrets of both their pasts come back to haunt their possibility of a future together.

Replete with foul-smelling dungeons, hulking pirates, makeshift torture chambers, knife attacks, suicide attempts, frightening flashbacks, and evil characters, Too Dangerous to Desire ventures into the darker side of love and lust. The story moves briskly along, winding down strange and unexpected paths to get to the inevitable historical romance conclusion. Benedict’s fresh storytelling techniques provide lively and interesting characters struggling to conquer demons from their pasts, while at the same time fighting to get through their current desperate times.
