Wish You Were Here, by Lani Diane Rich, is a fun book with the adventure that you are looking for!
Dedication to business is the only life that Freya Daly knows. She grew up in the family real estate business
and she wants to prove that she is the one for the head job when her dad retires next year. Unfortunately, dad only
sees Freya as a girl who, while she can do her job, can never be as successful as a man. Freya will do whatever it
takes to prove otherwise.
She heads to the backwoods of Idaho to see what all the fuss is about with this piece of land that her father
wants her to purchase, no matter what the cost. The cost, so far, includes the life that Freya is comfortable with,
as she is like a fish out of water in the woods. How will she cope, with none of the conveniences of life that she
is familiar with and relies on? One last thing to mention, what is it with all of those Tic Tacs?
Nate Brody, a single dad of a very adventurous little girl, also heads for Idaho when he learns that his dad is
at death's door. He feels obligated to make amends for the years in the past that the two of them did not
communicate. Running the family campground is what he chooses to do, for a short while, having promised his father
that he would not sell the campground until he uncovers the mystery behind the purple plate. Yes, you heard
correctly!
What will Nate do when his restaurant partners back in Boston contact him, and tell him: either come back or else
the head chef will walk? Now, Nate finds himself trying to decide between the new home he has made with his little
girl or the life he loves in Boston, as owner and chef of a successful restaurant. What will his choice be, and why?
Twists, turns and intertwined lives are all part of this great little story. Sit back, relax and enjoy one of the
quickest reads that I have come across in a very long time! Truly a pleasure!
