Ride `em Vampires! McCarty’s first book in her Shadow Wrangler series is hot, romantic,
and edge-of-the-seat reading. Caleb, the first brother, is tough, fangy, and definitely the
type of hero you don’t want to cross. Allie, the heroine, is courageous, a bit intimidated by
the sexy rancher, but can and does go toe-to-toe with Caleb when it counts. Readers who like a
bit of spice with their vampires should find this an excellent read—I know I did.
Every morning, Allie has hot pastries ready for the tough and handsome Caleb McClaren. The
rancher and his roguish attitude have been part of her day and night fantasies for a long time.
He is on her mind again when she leaves her bakery late one night and runs into a wolf that
wants her for dinner. She knows she is dead meat, but out of nowhere another wolf appears. A
wolf with Caleb’s gorgeous eyes. He protects her but almost dies in the bargain. She rescues
him and in return is imprisoned by his brothers, who are vampires.
Caleb knows he can never have Allie, but Lord does he want her. When she is almost killed,
he goes berserk, and when she risks her life again to save his sorry hide, he is overwhelmed
with emotion. Still, he must not give in, for Allie could never be happy living the life he
does. She loves the sunshine, and he loves her too much to take it away. Soon matters are taken
out of his hands when his brothers force her to give him blood to prevent him from dying, and
in return he must turn her to keep her from perishing from the blood loss.
Allie isn’t sure what is going on, but being a vampire wasn’t on her agenda. Still, she is
falling head over fangs for Caleb, and when he claims her as his, life gets interesting. A man
from her past wants her back, and she finds herself fighting to save herself and Caleb from a
death where there is no return.
