The Grand Finale

by Janet Evanovich

While making a nightly pizza delivery, Berry Knudson spies an innocent kitten stuck in a tree.   She couldn’t stand by and watch an innocent animal fall to its death.  In a split second she makes the decision to climb up the tree and save the helpless animal.  What she didn’t anticipate was the height would give her a bird’s eye view of the neighborhood.

Once up the tree and balanced on the limb, she spies what looks to be a Greek God changing his clothes.  She puts two and two together and figures out the location of the house is where the pizza should be delivered.  In a mad dash to get back to the ground she slips and falls off the limb.

Shaken from the fall, Berry finds herself flat on her back with an oozy substance stuck to her back.  The Greek God who caused all of this confusion is standing over her staring down at her.   At first she she doesn't know if she has died and gone to Heaven. When he speaks, his words catch her off-guard as he coolly asks if she is so desperate to see a naked man that she has to climb a tree and spy on him.

Berry is mortified that he could think such a thing about her.  She is embarrassed, infuriated, and quite frankly miffed that a complete stranger, someone who doesn’t even know her, should have such a negative first impression.

Berry realizes that this is the start of something that is going to change her life.  She is not accustomed to literally falling head over heels for a man the first time she sees him.  In this case, he has seen her at her worst so she can go nowhere but up from here.

The Grand Finale is a laugh out loud romance!  Those who are looking for a good, sidesplittingly funny comedy have found a wonderful winner in The Grande Finale.  I must admit this is the first Janet Evanovich book I have read, for I tend to prefer my romances darker and more haunted.  The Grand Finale provided a refreshing break from my normal reading habits.  Very highly recommended.
