The Naked Baron
Naked Nobility Series, Book 5

by Sally MacKenzie

The Naked Baron reads like a double feature—there are two relationships being enacted at the same time.  Although Grace and David, the younger couple, are a nice mix of regency lady and gent, I felt the love story of Kate, Grace's aunt, and Alex, David's uncle, was the more intriguing.  The emotions are well done by Ms. Mackenzie, and the love scenes hot, although the author left Grace and David's consummated love scene until the last pages of the book.  For readers of regency romance this is one worthy of a quiet afternoon and a cup of tea, while traversing the worlds of love, adversity, and humor.

Lady Grace is considered an Amazon by Regency standards and wants a man she doesn't have to worry about hurting; she's also had her fill of men looking eye-level at her bosom but never into her eyes.   When she spies David, the Baron of Dawson, across a ballroom, she is intrigued with his handsome looks, awesome physique, and the sensual looks he sends her way.  However, when her Aunt Kate glances at the man standing next to him, she almost faints.  It isn't until much later Grace learns Kate and Alex, the Baron's uncle, were once in love.

Both their relationships are doomed from the start because of a runaway bride, vows of hatred, and misunderstandings between Grace's family and David's.  Just when it seems history is going to repeat itself, fate steps in and delivers a blow that sends Alex and Kate into shock.  Grace is fighting her own battle to remind herself she is engaged to another man, but when David pleads with her to marry him instead, she must weigh the consequences of the past and the present before she makes her decision.
