Antoinette Petrescu had grown up to be a beautiful young woman. She was also a skilled warrior,
or Venator. Though she had occasionally been wounded, she still possessed a skill that few others
had. She’d made quite a name for herself, and her Uncle Sergei was very proud of her and her brother.
Her brother, Nici, had been named after their grandfather, Nickolae Petrescu, who had begun the
academy that taught Venators. These soldiers fought vampires. At first, the humans killed all
Aeternus. But thanks to a Petrescu, a treaty was signed. Many got their blood from blood banks or,
if they’d waited too long to feed, a live donor. If they drank from a human, they only took what
they needed, leaving the donor alive.
Some , however, became Necrodreniacs, addicted to the high they got when they drained every drop
of blood from a human body, the death-high. These refused to stop killing humans. It was these
the Venators hunted, often aided by the Aeternus.
Night’s Cold Kiss is the debut novel for Tracey O’Hara, and bodes well for her future.
The story is definitely different. The characters, though not human, still have their weaknesses
and vulnerabilities as well as their strengths. They’re called parahumans, and some even take on
the characteristics of animals. They can also change shape, turning into the animal whose DNA
they carry.
In addition to the information about her characters, there is the hunt for a killer. His name
is Dante Rubins, and he is stalking Antoinette. He killed her mother, and now he’s after her.
The action is nonstop and riveting. The suspense builds along with the romance. Try this one on
a cold winter night. You’ll be glad you did.
