One
Reckless Summer
Destiny Series, No 1
by Toni Blake
What happens when a good girl tires of being good? That’s what
happens to Jenny Tolliver, a 31-year-old recent divorcee who moves
back home to Destiny, Ohio, to regroup after the messy breakup leaves
her wallowing in depression. The daughter of the town’s police chief,
she always followed rules, obeyed the law, never smoked, waited
for true love to be physically intimate, and married that same true
love. However, one day this "true love" cheats on her and divorces
her because Jenny is too tame, too mild... too good.
When Jenny runs into one of the town’s bad guys during a late-night excursion to gaze at
the stars with an unobstructed view, she surprises herself by taking a walk on the wild side
with this handsome man whom she barely knew in her youth. In fact, Mick Brody has never ventured
over to the mild side, so their passionate summer affair represents a compromise for both of them.
Despite their physical chemistry, however, Mick’s dangerous secret threatens to tear apart the
tenuous bond between them.
As in her sizzling contemporary romance from last year, Letters
to a Secret Lover (reviewed
on Myshelf.com May 2008), Toni Blake introduces a dangerously sexy
and dangerously dangerous bad boy who has unknowingly been waiting
for the right good girl to reform him. In One Reckless Summer,
the story takes a few interesting twists, the characters are flawed,
but striving to improve themselves, and the frequent passionate
encounters leave little to the reader’s imagination. In short,
for a great romantic summer read, One Reckless Summer really
brings on the heat.
