Paper Roses
Texas Dreams – Book I
by Amanda Cabot
Sarah Dobbs is a mail order bride, leaving a troubled past behind her and travelling to Texas to start a new
life. With her is her little sister Thea, but the pair will be faced immediately upon arrival with the
devastating news that would-be groom Austin Canfield is dead. He has been shot, and his brother Clay is
determined to discover whodunit. Fortunately for Sarah he is also willing to offer her a home until she finds
her feet, even though he would prefer her to return back East. But there is much wrong on the Canfield ranch,
and in the town of San Antonio, that needs somebody to come and put it right.
This is a heart-warming, and inspirational novel about how faith can help overcome the trials life brings, as
well as being a compelling page-turner. There is a lot of story packed in here, and this is only the first book
in the trilogy so I have high hopes for the others. Inside these covers you can find romance, a murder mystery
and a good sense of history as San Antonio and its environs in the 1850s are brought to vibrant life. I couldn’t
put it down; this one is sure to please historical fiction readers of various tastes. More, please. |
