Grace O’Brien has been a nun, poker champion and treasure hunter. She and Angel Sabato, a
contractor and part-time treasure hunter, have been friends for years. When Angel asks Grace
to accompany him on his next job in Germany, then proposes, Grace refuses, afraid to reveal
the secrets of her past that she's certain would destroy their friendship. A hurt and
disillusioned Angel departs for Europe. Grace learns a few weeks later that Angel has married;
she is justifiably upset, yet mourns the loss of her friend.
A year later, Grace is apprenticed to Louise Rivard, a Cajun woman in her 90s who goes by
Tante Lulu and practices folk healing. A caring woman, Tante Lulu involves her family and
friends in helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina. When she discovers a needy orphan family
consisting of 17-year-old Ella and her siblings, Tante Lulu is determined to keep the family
together.
Tante Lulu learns that Angel’s marriage was annulled and that he’s back in the States. She
convinces Angel to return to Louisiana to help build homes for her new foundation, Jude’s Angels,
the first of which will house the orphan family. While he builds, Grace will care for the
children and Tante Lulu will handle Child Protective Services (CPS). Angel agrees, but only if
Tante Lulu will help him win over Grace’s love.
With Angel back in her life, Grace realizes that she loves him and will say yes to
marriage—if he asks her again. But will Angel want her when she reveals the secrets
of her past?
So Into You is an outstanding romance, complete with hilarious dialogue, lovable
characters and an excellent plot. I laughed out loud too many times to count while reading
the book, felt the emotional struggle and fears Grace faced about revealing her past. I fell
in love with Angel, a strong yet sensitive hero who knows what he wants and sets out to get it.
Tante Lulu is a lovable, multi-faceted character who stole many scenes and my heart. Sandra Hill
is one of my favorite authors, and the serious sub-plot—that of a teen struggling to
keep her siblings together—makes So Into You a poignant, emotional and highly
satisfying read.
