Breaking the Rules

by Barbara Taylor Bradford

After a brutal attack on her family's estate, 23 year old Emma, Emma Harte's (Woman of Substance) great granddaughter, leaves her life of privilege and moves to New York to seek a modeling career and anonymity. She calls herself "M" refusing to use her real name. She intrigues a top fashion photographer with her Audrey Hepburn look, and is soon one of the top fashion models.

Her career sends her to the fashion world of Paris. At a party she meets Laurence Vaughn, an English screen star, the son of the English theater's royal family. The attraction is mutual; love explodes and they marry, expecting a life of happiness free of problems. But there is a problem with Larry's former addiction to prescription drugs. "M's" success has revealed her true identity and has attracted the enemies of her legendary English family. There can be no real happiness until they can find the enemies who have threatened their lives.

This is a story with glamour, romance, intrigue, and mystery. The two families (Vaughn and Harte) provide a multitude of characters, with a look back to Emma Harte's history. We are given a close look at the worlds of modeling, fashion photography, fashion, and of the rich and famous. This has everything it needs to make it interesting and fast reading. An excellent book for reading and relaxing on a summer's afternoon.
