A Love of Her Own
Heart of the West - Book III
by Maggie Brendan
Josh McBride found the love of his life in The Jewel of His Heart (also
reviewed on this site)
and now he is getting married. His parents are on vacation in Ireland, so his sister April
will have to represent the family at his wedding. April is a rather spoiled girl used to
having her own way, and travelling to Lewistown is filled with mishaps that try her rather
short store of patience. She isn’t very impressed with Lewistown either, especially when
she has to stay at a boarding house rather than the hotel. Wes Owen might train horses,
which are her passion, but will he ignite a passion in her with his tatty home and cowboy
clothes?
In this final part of the triology Ms Brendan has done it again, written another enjoyable
page-turner of a western romance. April might have some flaws that need sorting out, but
she is a gutsy lady who loves her horses and who fits well into her western setting. One
of the joys of reading a series rather than a standalone novel is catching up with what the
characters have been doing and seeing... some of them have new adventures. This book is
filled with both new and existing characters who are easy to get to know and which I am sorry
I have seen the last of. Like the other two titles this is a life-affirming, inspirational
tale where April gets to sort out the flaws in her character and find God, along with a love
of her own. Added to this is a delightfully authentic background of a dusty Montana town in
the 1890s that is sure to appeal to readers of western romances and anybody who loves a good
historical novel. More soon please! |
