Drake Bryon is the only Bryon still unmarried. He has no wish to be married. His life revolves around his love for mathematics. At present he is developing a cipher code for the British War Office that will assist in the war effort against Napoleon. He has to interrupt his work to hire a housekeeper to replace one who left abruptly. He hires 28- year-old Anne Greenway. Anne is actually Sebastanne Dumen, who has been forced to spy on Drake and steal the cipher to protect her family. The French would imprison her father and conscript her young brothers. Inevitably she and Drake are attracted to each other. Anne has a problem: can she fulfill her mission without losing Drake and her family?

This is lighthearted and fast paced with an excellent cast of characters. The dialogue is witty. In addition to a glimpse into the lives of Napoleonic era personalities and a bit of history, there are some explicit sex scenes to titillate the reader. An enjoyable book to fill a few hours.
