After a painful divorce, Lacy Lancaster moves to San Francisco
with her Abyssinian cat, Cleo. The uncomplicated life she’d
hoped for is disrupted by her neighbor, Jack Walker, who seems to
argue constantly with his girlfriend. And then there is his cat,
called DOG, who seems to want to mate with Cleo. When Cleo becomes
pregnant and has her kittens Lacy confronts Jack with sharing the
vet bills and caring for the litter. She discovers that the girlfriend
is really Jack's sister with a way of life Jack is in disagreement
with. Lacey finds herself falling in love with Jack but is afraid
of trusting the feeling again.
This is a pleasant romantic story, well written, featuring likable
characters. The feline aspect of the story is one of its rewarding
bits. This is a very short story, which was originally published
in 1994. It is only 100 pages in a thin 5x7 book. It is questionable
why this was published as a hard cover book.
