Reeve MacAlpin was a Highland warrior who fought with honor. When
he comes across a beautiful stranger in trouble, he has no problem
doing the honorable thing and dispatching her would-be assailants.
Her name is Tara and she offers her bride price and tells Reeve
that she is looking for a new home where she may live in peace and
solitude away from her cruel father. Once Reeve hears her story
and that she has been labeled a death bride due to a curse put on
her when she was a child, he accepts her price and decides to take
her to his clan. He doesn’t believe in curses and tells her
that he has no fear of her.
Reeve is one of four warriors raised together as brothers and who
fight to help bring the True King to the throne of Scotland. He
is determined to not let anything distract him from that mission.
Not love and not marriage. But as he spends more and more time with
Tara, he begins to realize that his feelings for her are becoming
stronger and he is confused by them. He refuses to admit to himself
that he is falling in love with her. His brothers seem to know it
before he does and constantly rib him about it. The more time Tara
spends with his family, the more they come to love her and depend
on her skills. Reeve wants her in his arms and his bed. Tara wants
to protect Reeve and his clan from her curse. What can they do to
convince her that the curse doesn’t exist and that he is meant
to be with her? He knows that she loves him, but what can he do
to win her trust in his heart and his ability to survive the curse
and protect her?
Fletcher has upped her game with this second book in her warrior
series. With Reeve’s constant rakish antics and roguish grin,
and Tara’s constant fear for Reeve and his clan being affected
by her curse, the book is a constant source of entertainment and
romance. I whipped right through this book. I couldn’t put
it down. You’ll love it! I know I did.
I also did the review for book one: Bound
to a Warrior.
