Lily Berry loses her mother, is dumped by her boyfriend and fired
from her job. She is definitely down on her luck. Her bookstore
friend invites her to attend the Literary Festival in England. Lily
has a passion for all things Jane Austen so traveling to England
and attending a Jane Austen reenacting festival will give her an
escape from her troubles. She has no acting ability but she has
many other abilities.
In England she meets and falls in love with Willie Somerford, a
deacon in the Anglican church who isn't sure of his calling and
is writing a novel. She finds that solving her problems depends
on herself and not on her environment.
It's a poignant, funny and even instructive story of a woman who
goes on a journey of self-discovery in the world of a classic novel.
This book weaves a modern romance with the characters, themes and
scenes from Jane Austen's Mansfield Park. An enjoyable
read especially if you are a "Janite", but enjoyable even
if you are not.
