I don’t usually read historical romances, but Beverly Jenkins is a favorite author of mine. Her latest novel, Night Hawk, is a very thrilling book. I found myself in dire need of turning the next page, and wondering what will happen. The book opens up in 1889. Now I don’t usually read anything in this year. I don’t like slavery days, or anything that happened in the 1800’s. My focus is on the here and now.

Again, everyone including me can be persuaded in another direction. I remember reading a historical novel by Rosemary Rogers’s years ago. Now she’s a great writer, and now I can add Beverly Jenkins to my list of favorite authors for historical romances.

Night Hawk is a very passionate novel. Ian Vance and Maggie Freeman meet in Ian’s line of duty as he has to arrest the beauty for a crime she didn’t commit, of course. Ian is dealing with the murder of his wife a long time ago. Since he is still mourning for his wife, he’s not about to fall in love again, or is he? When he meets Maggie her beauty captivates him, and the two begin a boundary of justice for Ian, and Maggie using Ian to save her life.

Fighting a mob who wants Maggie dead, Ian and Maggie fight for their lives in a jungle of madness. In the midst of their troubles, they fight for the passion that destroys Ian’s belief that he can fall in love again. I love this book, and I love Beverly Jenkins. This book was a pleasure to read, and a pleasure to review.

Again, take a ride with me and the romance of Ian and Maggie in the 1800s. You will not be sorry. I know!
