Drina Argenis is a rogue hunter. She has been many things as an immortal. However, being a bodyguard/babysitter to a teenage vampire is something new. But this time there is a perk to the job. The other bodyguard/babysitter, Harper Stoyan, may be Drina’s life mate. Where in the world is she going to find the time to pursue Harper while constantly having to watch a sixteen-year-old girl who is new to the immortal world, wants to run, and also has a rogue vampire out to abduct her?

Harper, on the other hand, has already lost a life mate and has no intention of ever having another one. He blames himself for the death of her and refuses to take the chance that it might happen again. He has resigned himself to the fact that he will live out his life alone. But, then again, he has never met anyone like Drina before. The longer he is around her, the closer he gets to her, the more he gets to know her, the harder it becomes to keep his hands off her.

Drina knew she had to step lightly with Harper. She had been warned that he would not accept her as a life mate easily. But when Drina almost dies from an attempted assassination, Harper once again must make life altering decisions and face the death of his first life mate.

The Reluctant Vampire is book fifteen in the Argeneau series. I also reviewed the previous release, Hungry for You, for MyShelf last year. The Reluctant Vampire is another great read. The humor, the action, and the romance are great. You don’t have to read previous releases of the series to catch up. Each book stands on its own very well. Sands is great at letting you learn each character’s background without taking away from the story. Lovers of this series will eat it up. If you are new to it, you’ll love it. I highly recommend it.
