Regina Shelton,
the daughter of a British Earl, is traveling on a train in California
when outlaws begin attacking passengers and robbing them. Regina
panics, runs for the door of the train car, and jumps. When she
awakens, there is a man running his hands over her body looking
for injuries. When she finally sees his face, she is in awe of his
ruggedly handsome face and well-muscled body. But when he starts
asking her questions, she can't even remember her name or what had
happened on the train. She remembers nothing of her life before
jumping off the train. The man introduces himself as Slade Delanza,
the brother of her betrothed, James. Slade tells her that her name
is Elizabeth Sinclair. Still she remembers nothing. What is she
to do?
Slade Delanza was sent by his father to find Elizabeth when she
didn't get off the train at the train station in town. Once he learned
about the robbery and that she had jumped, Slade knew where to look.
But Slade is taken aback when he finds her and discovers that she
has lost her memory. He notices that she has a bad bump on her head.
He determines that she has amnesia.
When Slade and Elizabeth arrive in town and she meets Slade’s
father, she agrees to go to the family ranchero. There she finds
out that her betrothed died in a flood and that the father is determined
to see her married to Slade to save the ranchero from bankruptcy
with her dowry. Will Regina regain her memory? Will the father be
able to convince the two to marry and save the ranchero? Can Slade
deny himself his desire to possess Elizabeth when honor demands
him not to touch her?
This book starts right off with action. Once Slade finds Regina,
they both fight the strong attractions they have for each other.
It is a constant battle for all. The author pulls you in from the
start and doesn't let you go till the end. I couldn't put this book
down. Brenda Joyce has never let me down. All of her books I have
read are like this one. The title fits the book wonderfully, for
there are lots of secrets in this book to be revealed, and it has
quite a surprise ending. I highly recommend this book.
