Those daring Guardian Angelinos are at it again, protecting the innocent, pursuing the guilty, and venturing into dangerous places where thieves, kidnappers, and killers wait for their next victims. In her latest novel, New York Times best-selling author Roxanne St. Claire provides readers with Marc Rossi’s story. A former FBI agent whose ex-wife shockingly turned out to be a hardened criminal, Marc plans to continue protecting lovely damsels in distress, but has no plans to become personally involved with another woman anytime soon – if ever.

When Marc gets assigned to bring Devyn Sterling back home to the United States from Ireland, the job seems easy enough, although the FBI provides no details about why it so desperately wants the beautiful widow to leave the country. Only Devyn knows her reasons for tracking down rogue scientist, Dr. Sharon Greenberg, her biological mother now working for dark forces on a secret terrorist plot in Northern Ireland. When Devyn “accidentally” bumps into Marc in a hotel lobby, their immediate attraction to each other is probably the only thing genuine about the experience.

In a twisting, turning tale of terrorism that keeps readers guessing until the final pages, Shiver of Fear continues the adventures of the Angelino family, introduced in Edge of Sight and Face of Danger. Led by former investigative reporter, Vivi Angelino, the team of specialists work various security jobs for the dangerous and the endangered. Although Devyn is presented as a cold-hearted loner, she remains a sympathetic character throughout the story. Marc epitomizes the role of protector – strong, brave, intuitive, and resourceful. He’s also a sensitive lover, which makes him downright irresistible to the love-starved young widow.

Shiver of Fear combines suspense, mystery, romance, and a little comedy (involving the lovable Angelino family) into a winning story that’s relevant for today. While the balance seems a little tipped in the direction of suspense rather than romance, readers looking for a strong hero, growing sexual tension, and passionate encounters shouldn’t be disappointed with this latest addition to The Guardian Angelino series.
