Naomi Fontaine has always dreamed of being a small town doctor. One of her late patients, knitting-guru Eliza Carpenter, convinces Naomi to move to Cypress Hollow, a seaside community in California. Naomi manages to buy into a practice owned by elderly Doctor Pederson, who takes a prolonged vacation after her arrival. Naomi settles into the practice, but she is terribly shy and finds it difficult to open up to the other female residents of Cypress Hollow, not even the knitting group that she desperately longs to join.

Fate shows up in the form of Rig Keller, the sexy, handsome doctor she had a brief affair with at a recent Portland medical convention. Naomi is stunned by the news that Dr. Pederson offered Rig the opportunity to take over half of the medical practice. Rig is naturally outgoing and charms the patients, but finds Naomi is more sedate that he remembered. Naomi finds his presence a constant reminder of his expert skills in the bedroom, but the friction between them is nothing compared to the arrival of Naomi’s pregnant younger sister, who serves as a reminder that their mother loved Anna more. Then their mother arrives on the scene to complicate Naomi’s life even more.

Naomi is a sensitive character, naïve and determined to succeed with the community, yet too shy to successfully achieve that goal. Rig is a handsome, sexy opponent, who has the people skills Naomi lacks, yet fears becoming involved.

Wishes & Stitches is a delightfully sexy, warm and emotionally fulfilling read. Rachael Herron has a fresh, vibrant voice and her writing is pure magic, filled with the all conflict, desire and deep emotions that romance readers seek. Though third in the series, this book stands alone as one of the best romances I have read this year.

Reviewer Linda Morelli is the award winning author of three published romance novels.
