For Love and Honor is a delightful anthology of stories centered
on men who serve our country, written by three of the best romance
authors today.
Cathy Maxwell's The Bookish Miss Nelson is set in 1812 Spain. Captain
William Duroy is anxious to face the French in battle, but instead
is assigned to escort Miss Pippa Nelson to Lisbon. Duroy resents
the assignment, and Pippa has no desire to return to England or
a family she barely knows. Pippa loves reading, the result of being
deserted by her mother at ten and raised by England's envoy to Spain,
a strict father. Duroy and Pippa have no control over their fates.
Or do they? This is a tender, delightful novella that allows us
to savor the growing love as these two discover qualities they admire.
In Letters from Pie Town by Lynne Hinton, we are introduced, through
letters, to residents of a New Mexico town who write to Raymond
Twinhorse, a Navajo injured in Afghanistan. Trina Lockhart is a
single mother who met Raymond online. She works at the town's garage,
anxiously waiting for Raymond's return. She is instrumental in having
his family and friends write to Raymond, letters that are very moving,
and lead into the peak of Lynn's upcoming novel, Welcome Back
to Pie Town.
Candis Terry's novella, Home Sweet Home, features Army Lieutenant
Aiden Marshall who, along with two other men from Sweet, Texas,
trained together and fought in Afghanistan. Aiden is the only one
to return home. Ms. Terry shows us the pain and sorrow Aiden feels
over the loss of two honorable soldiers, and Aiden's longing for
the trusty friend he left behind. Paige Walker fell in love with
Aiden in high school, and vows to stay by his side and help him
fight whatever demons he faces.
