Alison Carter has a great career, but the worst luck in men. When
her best friend urges her to see a matchmaker, she heads over to
Rochelle’s and discovers the owner is a man. Brandon Scott
is a real estate developer who has fallen on hard times due to the
economy. He has inherited his grandmother’s matchmaking service
and the use of her home, and decides to continue her business in
order to raise enough money for his next real estate investment.
Though a born optimist, Alison believes men don’t understand
women and doubts Brandon’s abilities to find her a good match.
Judging from the few dates he arranges for her, she’s right.
Each match is a dreadful flop, but along the way, Brandon learns
more about people’s needs and, with Alison’s help, the
business earns money. He soon raises enough funds to return to real
estate, but has a career decision to make when he realizes he’s
the right man for Alison.
This story is wonderful! The main characters are successful in
their own right, yet must face the obstacles that prevent happiness.
For Brandon, it’s the downturn in the housing industry, and
his desire to get back into real estate. For Alison, it’s
her inability to find love, and her desire to have a husband, house
and kids.
Jane Graves has written an endearing romantic plot that is sensitive
to present day economic hurdles and the difficulties in developing
sustainable relationships in our modern, hectic world. The story
sparkles with humor, great characters, sensitivity and an engrossing
storyline. The main characters were drawn with heartfelt emotion
and realism, qualities that have made Jane Graves one of my favorite
romance authors. I loved this story and can’t wait for the
next offering from this terrific author.
