It was said
that Nicolai DeMarco could command the heavens, that the beasts
below did his bidding, and that he was doomed to kill the woman
he took for his wife. It was whispered that he was not wholly human
– as untamed as his tawny mane and slashing amber eyes.
Broke and desperate,
aristocrat Isabella Vernaducci would defy death itself to rescue
her imprisoned brother. She would even brave the haunted, accursed
lair of the lion – the menacing palace of legendary, lethal
Don Nicolai DeMarco.
Isabella sold
some of her mother’s jewels to make the trip to talk to the
infamous Don DeMarco. She braved snowstorms and rocky cliffs, and
risked being attacked by the lions that were said to roam the lands
of the Don. It was said that those who had braved the journey before
her had never returned. However, Isabella had no other choice. This
was her last chance to save her brother. If she failed at this,
she failed him.
When Isabella
arrived at the palazzo she had no idea of the dark secrets and powers
that lurked inside. But once she met the beast that everyone feared,
Isabella only saw the man that ruled his domain. She promised herself
that she would do whatever it took to save her brother, and so she
struck a bargain with the Don to become his wife and in exchange
the Don would save her brother. The one thing she hadn’t counted
on was falling in love with the Don. She did not fear him as everyone
else did. But the question is will she survive to see her brother
again and fulfill her end of the bargain.
Christine Feehan
is quickly rising to the top of my list of favorite authors. Lair
of the Lion is one of my favorite reads for this year. It keeps
you on the edge of your seat at every turn of the page. You never
know what’s going to happen next. Feehan has woven a mystical
story here that keeps you reading to see what Isabella will have
to deal with and how she will do it. In Don DeMarco’s world,
not all is as it seems. There is a mystery to be solved if Isabella
is to fulfill her bargain with the Don. Can you solve it before
she does?
This is a great
book. I couldn’t put it down. I fell asleep with the book
in my hand more than once. It won’t disappoint you. Give Lair
of the Lion a try.
