The Honorable Clarissa Vevian might appear to have a lot going for her: youth, beauty, money, a title but she still gets sent to the Tribbles to be finished?. Her problem is her height, and her clumsiness. She has a petite dainty mother who tries to dress her in the style that would look good on a younger version of herself, and as a result she looks awful. En route to the Tribbles Clarissa’s coach gets held up by a highwayman who turns out to be the Earl of Greystone’s brother?

These delightful Regencies never disappoint. Many authors could learn a trick or two by reading them about pacing, use of humor, light but telling use of research and originality. As this is a series it is always good to discover what the series characters are up to, meet the new faces and see how they fit into what is already there. The comic incidents are genuinely funny, often unexpected and somehow in period as well in many cases, adding a new dimension to the Regency romance subgenre. As usual with this author you won’t find any sex, but there is so much else going on if you are anything like this reviewer you won’t miss it.
