It
is now cousin Branna O'Dwyer's turn to take center stage in
the conclusion to the trilogy. She ought to be happy with
her lot, but she is in love with a man who is descended from
dark magician Cabhan so surely their happiness together is
impossible. Previously they have tried to be together, but
it does not seem to be meant to be. But maybe with the help
of her cousins and their soulmates the sextet might be able
to prevail over their ancient nemesis.
I am not normally a fan of paranormal romances but make an
exception for Nora Roberts' work. The characters are grounded
in the real world with its problems and joys, she excels at
pure romance and in mixing it all up with a supernatural theme.
Don't read this series expecting something new and different,
as it is not dissimilar to her earlier paranormal series with
ancient curses, witches and spells but if you are a fan of
her work it ought to appeal. All the elements are there and
I loved her lyrical descriptions of Ireland, a feature of
all the books in this set. She takes time for the reader to
really get to know the characters so you can root for them
and this makes the pages fly. Her villain has far less dimension,
but exists so there is an evil to be battled and there is
quite a lot of that in this book. To say more would involve
plot spoilers and this is one series that has to be read in
order. I look forward to whatever Ms Roberts comes up with
next.
