We all know the recipe for a romantic thriller - take one spunky but helpless woman in distress, stir in a handsome and competent but reluctant hero, then mix in lots of enthusiastic, but less competent bad guys. Sex and mayhem ensues. Exit Strategy certainly has the requisite handsome, competent and reluctant hero in Mason Hunt, assassin. His job is to take out terrorists and other bad guys before they kill. He never questions his orders, until the ticket comes up for Sabrina Hightower. Mason's best friend insists that Sabrina is an innocent, and Mason (of course) is wildly attracted to her. Sabrina isn't quite the "spunky but helpless" sort. She's got spunk to spare, but she can also shoot with TV-magic-level accuracy and she's not afraid to defend herself. But, of course, she has no defense against her wildly growing attraction to Mason as they go on the run and try to figure out why Sabrina was ever a target. Sexy times ensue (plenty of them, so be aware this romance is a bit racy). I found the plot interesting and the quick changes of venue and peril held my interest throughout. There were some moments that stretched credulity a little far for me, personally, but this is the sort of book you read for fun, not analysis. Oh, and whoever chose the cover models should be smacked. Honestly, people, how hard is it to give the designer some clips of description from the book to go by? So, overall - a fun book, especially if you're a fan of romantic suspense. And don't judge the book by its cover.
