Reviewers Note: Sex scene

Delia Somerset and her sisters have no chance of a Season or being part of the ton, for their mother caused a huge scandal during her own Season when she ran away from marrying the Earl of Carlisle. Instead she married a poor man for love, and now her four daughters live in rural Surrey. But now Delia and Lily are to attend a house party at the present Earl's estate…

This is an enjoyable first entry in a new series of Regency romances and a first novel for this author. I am not normally a fan of books where the hero and heroine spend pages snipping at one another, but Ms Bradley manages to convey a sense of fun to the cat and mouse game they are both playing. Delia is due a break, and Alec is overdue a lesson not to be so arrogant. It is easy to like Delia from the start and she manages to give as good as she gets, also neatly sidestepping a few clichés on the way. Another thing in this book's favor is that the author manages to convey a real sense of lust in words alone during most of the book, only culminating in a sex scene at the very end. Also I did feel that the characters had actually fallen in love rather than fighting all the way and suddenly getting married. As the action is confined to one location it is not easy to tell how much knowledge the author has of the period, but apart from the odd reference to fireflies and milkweed, no glaring errors were spotted. There is always something happening too, and pages flew as I wanted to see how it would all end. I am eager to read more in this series and if you enjoy a good Regency romance, you will too.
