Batman: The Complete Knightfall Saga
Based on stories by Chuck Dixon, Alan Grant, Doug Moench, and Dennis O'Neil
Edited by Dennis O'Neil and Scott Peterson
Batman - that one name is enough to make every bad guy in Gotham City shake in their shoes.
He's the invincible, immortal protector of the city and all of its inhabitants . . . that
is, until he meets an untimely accident in the form of Bane. After being seriously injured
and confined to a wheelchair, millionaire Bruce Wayne has to sit back and watch as the
city slowly slips back into the grips of chaos. What makes the whole situation more unbearable
is the new figure that's been seen killing "wrong-doers". To most of the city, the shadow
bears an eerie resemblance to their beloved dark knight but to those more in tune with
the shrouded enigma know the truth: Azrael, a new hero-type, has taken up the mantle of
the great bat and has made it his mission to rid the world of evil completely . . . and
permanently.
Like most of the people in my generation, comic book icons like Batman and Superman are
the symbols of a long standing tradition of noble heroes with odd pastimes and somewhat too
obvious secret identities fighting against the corrupt and despicable characters that
were created solely to be booed and pulled off stage by the infamous "hook-o-doom". This
full-cast audio drama, originally released as Batman: the Knightfall by the BBC,
is an incredible addition to any comic book buff's collection. |
