Heroic
Death
Beginning of the Death Trilogy
by Brian G Murray
The Dark Lord wants to conquer the whole world, and he has his Dark Brethren to lead
his armies. These supernaturally endowed warriors will stop at nothing, and are named
Fury, Malice and Chaos. Before them the enemies of the Dark Lord will fall like corn
to the scythe - or so he hopes. But the forces of evil have their balance in the good
guys, and six mortal men stand up to join forces and oppose the tide of evil. Trouble is,
one of them is in truth the champion of the Dark Lord - but who is it?
I've long wondered why nobody had ever tried to mix the genres up a little more and
add a whodunit angle to a fantasy novel, but now they have. This is the first in a new
trilogy and it fairly bursts with good old-fashioned fantasy sword and sorcery action.
Forget the current vogue for static court intrigues, heads roll in the dust on almost
every page and it is impossible to be bored unless of course you don't like this sort of
thing and if this is so why are you reading it? To its detriment this is very much a
tale of good and bad guys, and the girls don't get much of a look in except to slake
the lusts of the baddies or cheer the heroes on. Put some strong women into book two and
you will have an exciting traditional fantasy trilogy that will appeal to both sexes. |
