It is the late 1950s; the world is being thrown headlong into a time of astounding technological
progress and frightening international tensions. The superpowers of the world, the USSR and the
United States, are each scrambling to match their power to the other. Lex Luthor is a prominent
American industrialist and an evil genius with a giant company and an almost infinite amount of
resources at his disposal. His only goal is power and he is playing chess on a global scale. The
only people standing in his way are Lois Lane, a reporter from the Daily Planet who aims
to expose his treachery, and a couple of Allies as different from each other as the night is from
day.
Bruce Wayne is well known as a multi-million dollar playboy to the members of the board of
directors for Wayne Enterprises, along with the rest of the world. He is considered non-threatening
by his board, a glorified figurehead and that’s just the way he wants it to be; for in the darkness
of Gotham’s city streets lurks a hunter. A hunter feared by the evil doer. An ominous force driven
by anger and guilt coupled with the desire to never let the horrors of his past be repeated. The
Dark Knight, Batman, slaves under his beloved city to protect the innocent but is feared and hunted
by the very city he strives to protect. He will soon be pulled into an alliance with the Man of Steel
and Lois Lane as he begins to discover things about his own company that are very upsetting and tied
to Lex Luthor’s evil plans. Meanwhile the Man of Steel is on a journey of self discovery which will
also lead him to the evils of Lex Luthor.
Kevin J. Anderson weaves a great tale of two of the world’s favorite superheroes. He thoroughly
explores the personality of each hero and brings you into their separate worlds while transporting
you through a thrilling and exciting plot line. I took more time than usual reading this book due
to the fact that I didn’t want to run out of pages. This book, Enemies and Allies, has
found a permanent spot on my bookshelf and I hope to add more of Mr. Anderson’s adventures to my
collection in the future.
