Emma Andrews was born to be a vampire hunter. She is in Denmark doing research in the ancient archives when she receives a letter from her friend Sebastian. He tells Emma the story that he has learned from a woman who was a teacher at a girls’ school and who had witnessed strange behavior, even death. In the end, she also died. Emma knows that the events taking place at the school and the surrounding area are signs that a vampire is there. She immediately leaves for England.

Emma goes to the school and applies as a teacher. She must be inside the school to find out what is going on with the girls. Before too long, Sebastian and two other friends show up in the village to help her. Somehow they must dig into the village’s history to track down the vampire. Emma also hopes to find out what happened to her mother, who also went to the school years ago. They must all tread lightly as they search for clues that may, in the end, lead them to the Dracula.

I must say, I am very impressed with the way this book was written. I have not read the first book in this series, but this book stands on its own very well. It is written in the first person as Emma tells her story. The reader is given quite a bit of history on the legends and myths behind Dracula. This wasn't one of those gory vampire books. This was a well written story that focused more on the history and the events, along with the characters and their relationships with each other and their parts in the team. It keeps your attention from start to finish. I am looking forward to reading the first in the series. I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy paranormal stories along with the historical side of the story. You can't go wrong with this book. It even has a bit of a surprise ending.

Reviewer's Note: Mild language, mild sexual content, violence
