WWW.Wonder is the concluding novel to the trilogy WWW.Wake
(1) and WWW.Watch
(2) In this latest book, Webmind, born from the world wide web,
is in danger. Caitlin Decter, a once blind girl begins to unravel
the mystery of the mind, Webmind, that is. Caitlin sits down at
the computer and turns it on. She activates the talking droid, which
sounds a little like Darth Vader, and Webmind speaks. She talks
to it like a friend and it answers her back. They have a conversation
of sorts. If that was all there was to it, you might think it was
just another internet based program to enhance the experience. But
Webmind seems to have a mind of its own, carrying on conversations
with several humans at once, until it chats with an unknown.
Is Webmind God? Can it answer the prayers of the world? Read this
Hugo nominated author’s science fiction novel with just a
hint of reality and wonder whose consciousness you are entering.
I have not read the first two in the series, but that didn’t
deter me from enjoying this one. Before beginning, you may want
to read the first two, but I wouldn’t say it’s a must.
WWW.Wonder is thought-provoking. It’s science or
is it fiction? Next time you plug in you may be surprised!
