Nola O'Grady has her hands full. She's getting visitations from
a deviant world -- both psychically and in the flesh. And the more
she learns about her visitors, the less safe she feels. On top of
this, her partner in the Apocalypse Squad keeps asking her to marry
him, which is definitely not on her agenda. Nola's main focus is
finding and freeing her father from a prison in another dimension.
But when two of her brothers disappear pursuing the same goal, Nola
will do whatever it takes to save them.
I liked the whole layered dimensions premise of this series. The
idea of travelling between different and bizarre versions of our
world sounds fascinating -- and dangerous. This novel has a lot
going on both in terms of plot and character. Nola not only has
to deal with the demands of her job on the Apocalypse Squad, which
grows more complicated on every page, she also has relationship
issues with family and lover. It's nice to see serious character
depth in an urban fantasy series. But Apocalypse to Go doesn't pull
any punches in the thriller department with bad guys who are truly
horrific. I found the book compelling and complex -- definitely
a good one.
