Alexandra
Belarus has a lot to answer for. She accidentally animated
thousands of stone figures in New York City and they're a
destructive bunch. Thankfully she has a team helping her to
set things right, including Stanis, a gargoyle animated long
before and loyal protector of Alexandra. In this third and
final installment of the series, Alexandra discovers gargoyles
are joining together under a charismatic leader and not for
the good of human or gargoyle. And if that's not enough, the
magical community is having problems as well. Somehow everything
is related and it's up to Alexandra and crew to sort things
out before the deathcount becomes catastrophic. I really enjoyed
the unusual elements of this novel. Though I've seen gargoyles
before, the magical elements - especially alchemy - added
a unique twist. I also enjoyed the romantic elements that
stayed as elements, not overwheming or competing with the
main story. The pace of the story was brisk with plenty of
surprises (not all of them cheery) and the book wraps up with
enough space in the world left to continue if the author is
so inclined.
