In
this third novel in the series, Bianca Sin is a forensic witch
who works with the NYPD. The most recent case involves young
women who are murdered and cut open to remove the baby in
each of them. It's clear the Dark Brethren are involved, but
Bianca isn't sure just what they intend. Bianca is teamed
up with NYPD homicide detective Lancelot McManus, a man with
more than a professional interest in her. In this third installment
in the Dark Brethren series, both Bianca and McManus run full
on into their destinies so this is a huge turning point in
the series. Though the novel had some charming light moments,
this is no fluffy paranormal romance -- the crimes are brutal
and the characters suffer at the hands of the bad guys. It's
the kind of book where happy endings don't come cheap, and
are rarely as happy as the characters would like. I found
the plot compelling with plenty of twists and surprises. I
found the new paranormal creatures a delightful surprise.
And I found myself hoping the series continues -- I'd enjoy
reading more.
