Isaac
Vainio, Libromancer, is back and dealing with a world that
finally knows magic is real. The world is not responding according
to Isaac's optimistic hopes. In fact, governments all over
the world are scrambling to contain, control, or simply destroy
the magical "threat." And magical creatures are
striking back, or so it seems. In a book that deals so much
with paranoia, bigotry and the potential of human cruelty,
Hines still manages to bring us hope and even a few laughs
resulting in a book that feels lighter without ever being
slight.
As in
past books, I'm simply enchanted with the whole premise of
magic pulled from books, and that aspect continues to delight
in this fourth installment of the series. Revisiting characters
I've come to love was another delight as Vainio calls on friends
and foes alike to save countless lives from true evil -- that
kind that comes from fear and a thirst for power. For fans
of the Magic Ex Libris series, this book ultimately turns
the series in a whole new and exciting direction. For newcomers
picking up the book, prepare for an addiction that will keep
you up way past bedtime with the rest of us libromancy fans.
