Dr. Sanjay Gupta is a familiar face on many major television network shows. This popular physician offers medical
information in terms that are easy to understand. A busy neurosurgeon at Emory University Hospital and Associate
Chief of Surgery at Grady Memorial, Dr. Gupta has embarked on a worldwide quest to discover the mystery of
individuals who enjoy long and productive lives while enjoying good health, far beyond what seems possible.
As medical science advances, so does life expectancy. The good doctor endeavors to guide humans to "quality"
as much as "quantity" of life during their days on earth.
In addition to listing various conditions leading to ill health that most Americans are familiar with,
Chasing Life dispels many myths that the public has long believed to be true. Additionally, it points out
traditional remedies and products, both natural and chemical, which are now shown to be of little or no use to our
well being. Meanwhile, the author expands on today’s public health awareness, discussing foods and behaviors that
lead to healthier day-to-day living.
Dr. Gupta has also studied other cultures and their successes. While visiting Russia on a quest to discover
"The Fountain of Youth", he uncovered secrets of living long, beneficial lives well known to the local inhabitants.
Though provocative and controversial at times, Dr. Gupta shares his findings with you, and you can’t argue with
success.
Full of fascinating facts and occasional unconventional ideas, I found the audio book illuminating. However,
there is so much information that it was hard to follow in audio form. I found myself going back to previous
chapters for clarification, and would have preferred a text version of this book so that I might more easily look
back at previous chapters for reference. For future audio books, I would recommend a printed Table of Contents
outlining a navigation of the CDs.
You may not want to live forever, but this book can show you how to age well, all while leading a healthy
lifestyle. Hopefully one that will enable you to live long enough to dance at the wedding of your
great-great-great grandchildren!
