Generation X can technically be defined as the generation following the Baby Boomers. Xers were born between 1965
and 1980. If you were born during that time period you probably know the lyrics to every Madonna song that has ever
been played on the radio. When you speak the word marriage you immediately associate it with Billy Idol’s song
"White Wedding".
Being a Generation X’er myself I can fully appreciate Tricia Gover’s Generation NeXt Marriage: The Couple's
Guide to Keeping It Together. It is a well known fact that my generation was raised to believe that
relationships happen, marriage is enviable, and that divorce is more of the reality.
With such a negative upbringing, it stands to reason this generation is in serious need of sound advice that
will help them succeed in their current and future relationships. Generation NeXt Marriage: The Couple's Guide
to Keeping It Together presents the strong foundation help build and grow upon a couple's love. In this one
book you will find memorable 1980s and 90s quotes, true life stories, and suggestions that will help retrain any
X’er on what they see love as being.
I was very pleased with the openness and trip down memory lane. I caught myself more than once humming
various passages of well known 80s love ballads that were used as title introductions for each chapter. This
book really gave me a true awareness of my age and beliefs and how we as generation X’ers are so different from
the other generations. This book is a definite must have for any single or marriage minded individual. You will
find the advice that is presented will set your mind spinning with new ideas to try and experience. Very highly
recommended.
