Fearless Love
The Answer to the Problem of Human Existence
by Gary Renard

Gary Renard, a well-known author and spiritual teacher, has prepared a two-CD audio course in achieving love and
forgiveness called Fearless Love: The Answer to the Problem of Human Existence. The course, rooted in the
teachings of A Course of Miracles, which presents the tenets of a Jesus of the modern age wrapped in Buddhist
concepts, emphasizes the breaking down of the ego, what Renard calls the "false self," a state that he considers
as separation from the Divine. Using meditation techniques and lectures, Renard helps listeners use powers of the
mind to undo the ego in order to get closer to perfect love. He offers three ways of undoing ego: giving up control
to the Holy Spirit, engaging in True Prayer, and practicing forgiveness.
True Prayer is quite intriguing. It is achieved through a brief meditation practice that doesn't involve a
laundry list of petitions to the Divine, but is a way of achieving oneness with the Source through practiced
silence.
The concept of forgiveness that Renard presents is also unique. It is not ferreting out everyone else's sins
or even your own sins, thereby making them more manifest in the cataloging of them. It is simply, just forgiving.
It involves looking at the world and the people in it as not being done to us—the cause of our troubles,
but looking at ourselves and what is manifest as a symbol of that which exists in our own conscious mind. When
we forgive from a place of love, we forgive ourselves.
The techniques, lecture material, and anecdotes amplify the concepts Renard presents, which offer a means to
achieve harmony with oneself and the Divine. The techniques are simple and easy to learn, but must be practiced.
The author spends a lot of time explaining what A Course in Miracles is, how it came about, how its structured,
and how these techniques have worked in his own life. I found that to be a bit of a distraction to the material
presented, but would be helpful to someone wanting to know more about what that spiritual course was about.
