The Skinny on the Art of Persuasion
How to Move Minds
by Jim Randel
Jim Randel has produced another excellent book for “The Skinny
On” series. “The Skinny on the Art of Persuasion”
fulfills its mission to explain how to learn the skills needed to
“move minds.” This book draws from a multitude of sources
aiming to teach this subject. The knowledge is condensed into a
less than 300 page book that can meet the mark for a one hour or
less read.
Life presents us with so called “teachable moments”.
On every page, in every comic frame, the reader will find such moments.
They are little gems of wisdom, with both stick figure characters
that grow on you and practical insights to help you understand the
nature of the art of persuasion. Married couple Billy and Beth are
featured again (see review of “The
Skinny on Willpower”), and in this episodic book they
learn about persuasive events. Author Jim Randel also appears as
a stick figure of himself, who counsels and advises Billy and Beth
throughout this story.
I really enjoyed this book. In fact, I laughed heartily at the cover!
It features a man with a push cart, selling blocks of ice to a woman
in an igloo! I found this to be very creative. The artwork is simplistic
enough; after all anyone can draw a stick figure, right? Sure, but
I don’t think many of us could bring forth emotion and realism
to stick figures like the artists of “The Skinny On”
series do. Illustration credit in this book goes to Lindy Nass and
Rebecca Kunzmann.
As is standard with this series, the front of the book has a set
of removable, sturdy bookmarks, and also standard, but quite the
bonus, you can get free updates for your book at TheSkinnyOn.Com.
I highly recommend for anyone who wants to learn how influence others
in a positive fashion. This is a you-can’t-go-wrong read.
Enjoy!
