I listened to this audio book with great enthusiasm; interested in what I thought would be a curious and informative work. Sorry to say, I found my mind wandering and had trouble following the subject matter. I am not sure if the subject matter, aging, was simply uninteresting or the narration quite dull. At my age, I am all ears when it comes to anything new. Unfortunately, I did not hear anything new. Mr. Gifford talks about the different viewpoints on hormones (old stuff), and the fact that we are living longer (not news), including the supposition that we are on a backward spiral, but for me it produced sheer boredom. I have read other reviews on this book, both by women and physicians, and according to their reviews, this is a bestseller. I just cannot go there on this one. Listening to the reasons why, the cures for, and the future of, left me bored.

If you are interested in hearing about the all the reasons why we age, what can and can't be done about it, and where you go from there, you may be interested in listening. I might suggest that this book may need to be read to get all that you want out of it. The most that anyone can get out of it is that we are all destined to die and that's a fact. On the other hand you can die trying to stay young, Either way, growing old is a fact of life and nothing can be done about it.
