Cassie's best friend
Justin is the one she goes to with all her problems, including boyfriends
that come and go. They tell each other everything. Now Cassie is beginning
to feel differently toward Justin, but she doesn't want to jeopardize
their friendship by falling in love with him (or by letting him know her
new feelings). She is sure that he doesn't share those feelings, since
the Homecoming Queen, Jennifer, has been hanging around him a lot lately,
and he seems equally interested in her.
Cassie is painting her
masterpiece for entry in the upcoming art show, hoping to win a scholarship.
Spending extra time on the painting also gives her an excuse for avoiding
Justin. Justin is a very talented and creative photographer, and the art
and photography interest add greatly to the story. The added worry of
her family's financial problems are stressful to Cassie.
Bernson has really come
through with her first novel, accurately showing the emotions and feelings
of teens through friendship, love, and jealousy. You'll love the interaction
between the likable, well-developed characters. It is a feel good, fun
read for girls with a great surprise ending. It looks like this will be
a series to watch for.
